A 23-yr-old marriage dissolved by Court over family interference

A customary court in Mapo, Ibadan, recently dissolved a 23-year-old marriage between Mr Jelili Amubikan and Mrs Ganiyat Amubikan over family interference.

The president of the court, Chief Ademola Odunade, held that the evidence before the court had shown that there was no more love between the two, hence the marriage was dissolved.
Odunade said Amubikan should be paying the sum of N10,000 to his children monthly and take care of their health and education.

However, Ganiyat had told the court that their problem started with the interference of her husband’s extended family in their family affairs.

She said

“Our marriage is 23 years old now and we have two children. Our problem started when his family members began to harass me in my shop and my husband would always support them. There was a day one of his younger brothers met me on the road and beat me. I bought a car and my husband collected it from me. He has sent me out of his wife severally. I don’t want him again. Please tell him never to cross my path again.”
