Six students of FUTA (Federal University of Technology Akure), including the camera man, who were filmed assaulting a 100Level female student have been suspended indefinitely.

Five students of FUTA were filmed assaulting a 100Level female student who was identified as Bolu.

In the video clip, the victim, Bolu, was assaulted by four ladies and a male student described as a school father to one of the ladies.

The reason for the assault was not established in the clips. However, one of the ladies could be heard telling the victim to kneel down and accusing her of running her mouth.

The clips showed the victim being slapped on her face, beaten with belt repeatedly and also being assaulted with mop stick and broom.

According to FUTA SDGs Hub, a twitter handle, all the students involved, including the camera man has been suspended indefinitely with effect from 17/11/2019 and are barred from the University and its precincts forthwith.

What is your take on this, especially with the inclusion of the camera man?

  1. Beyond the indefinite suspension by the University, which indeed is a step in the right direction, the students should be seriously prosecuted for assault and battery.
This supports the fact that university degrees are awarded for being found worthy in BOTH character and learning because learning without character is a disaster waiting to happen.
We can’t be breeding street boys and girls in our institutions as undergraduates!
