Emotional Affairs Versus Sexual Affairs

Last Updated on

emotional affair

Study shows that half of emotional affairs become sexual affairs.

Sexual affair is when one person in a committed relationship is sexually involved with another person other than their spouse.

On the other hand, emotional affair is any infidelity that occurs through thought or feelings. Emotional affairs have been taken to different levels with the high rate of technological development.

Some people in committed relationships avoid getting sexually involved with other people other than their partners but they get themselves emotionally involved with other people through their phones, internet and other technological means.

In my opinion, affair is affair, whether emotional or sexual.

What is your opinion?

I don’t think staying in touch with people over the internet or social media equals emotional affair. To me emotional affair involves having a non sexual but intimate affair with another person. It usually starts when spouse founds a listening ear or becomes a listening ear to another person. When people are able to unburden their heart, they become closer and then more vulnerable. So the question is: why will a spouse find a better listening ear outside and thus becomes emotionally attached to a stranger instead of his/her husband? Yes emotional affair could lead to sexual affair if care is not taken. However, it is even better to be a source of comfort and confidant to your spouse. Always be ready to listen, hear and comfort. A lot of people are really burdened and need people to help them cope by simply listening and offering comforting shoulder. People should be that person to their spouses.

Technology and internet are among the means through which some people engage in emotional affairs by sharing sexual pictures with others. Thanks
